Get A Better CD Rate – Renewal at Ally Bank
Posted by Best Bank Rates under [ CD Rates ] on January 15, 2010One of my CDs at Ally was recently expiring and I called them to cash out a CD. Most of the time a bank will count on you not paying attention to when your CD matures and try to roll you into a low interest rate. I was pleasantly surprised when Ally’s representative offered me a retention bonus of 0.5%, allowing me to get a 1 year CD at 0.50% above their current posted rates. I was also able to deposit additional money into the account at that rate.
I currently do most of my online banking with Ally Bank because they have some of the best CD rates and savings rates available. There was one instance where they accidentally processed my transfer twice, but a quick call to customer support cleared it up quickly and easily.
With Ally’s 10 day best rate guarantee, you automatically get a higher rate if it increases within the next 10 days. In addition, with the 2 Year CD you have the option of raising your rate once if Ally has a better rate during the term of that CD. There is also no minimum deposits on any of Ally Bank’s products.

This rate is better than ING. That’s where I have all my accounts. Are they an online based bank?
