American National Bank’s tagline is, “American Dreams Come True.” But my dreams aren’t going to come true anytime soon with the horribly mediocre CD rates that they are offering! Their interest rates range anywhere from 1.25% APY (for a 7-30 day CD) to 4.10% APY (for a 5 year+ CD). They do have two “specials” that are actually competitive – 4.65% APY for a 7 month CD and 5.12% APY for a 13 month CD.

I don’t know why their maturity dates are so strange, either. Their website is drab and looks like it hasn’t been updated since ‘99. Here’s a review of a local branch that doesn’t make me feel any better about this institution, FDIC insured or not.
